Thanksgiving Break

The UW- Stevens Point has got to have the shortest Thanksgiving break ever.  We had class on Wednesday… lame.  So I did not get home until Wednesday night.

I came home to this- my aunt and cousins from North Carolina staying at our house! :)  Unfortunately, I did not get to hang out with them very long, because their last night staying at our house was Wednesday.

I also got to see my puppy Trooper! :D

The next day was, obviously, Thanksgiving!  Here is a picture of me and my sisters all dressed up nicely.

Trooper did not want to be in this picture.

The next day we got to go ice skating!

It’s been awhile….

So once again, it has taken me a couple days to actually update this thing.  And once again, I was babysitting William so the blog got pushed to the back of my mind.  But that is OK, since I got a bunch of cute webcam pictures with him :D

First I decided to take a normal one.

And then we started messing around with the filters.  He particularly liked this one.

Playin’ football.

He looked at the screen and went “there’s two!”

I had a lot of fun watching him, as usual :D

Today, my sisters and I decided to all dress alike, just for the fun of it.

It took us forever to figure out what we wanted to do today, and by the time we figured it out, pretty much all we had time to do was get yummy beverages and hang out at the mall for a little bit.  We had time to shop around a little, but not for long.  Then we had to go pick mom up from work, where we found her holding an adorable baby!  So Sarah and I got to hold him.  He spit up on me.  But that’s ok, he was cute enough to get away with it :P

Anniversary!

Today is my parents 23rd wedding anniversary, so to celebrate, we went to the Milwaukee zoo!  They have a pretty sweet dinosaur exhibit, and we got a lot of nifty pictures:

We were being dinosaurs.  Note how my hands both have three claws :P

It’s biting her hand!

I didn’t snap the picture in time… it looks kinda like he is running away I guess?

We didn’t spend all day looking at the dinosaurs though.  We had a lot of fun looking at the real animals too.

Like the monkeys.

Giraffes are my favorite <3

IMG_3215

Brenna likes them too.

We also found it fitting to ride on the train… and we were definitely the only people without children under 10 years old.

B ditched me to ride by mom.

We’re the cool ones.

Since our older sister, Sarah, was in Oshkosh this weekend, she couldn’t make it on this epic trip.  So we bought her a little present :)

Ok so Brenna and I got presents too.  How can you pass up a giraffe hand puppet???  Burke girls definitely can’t, that’s for sure :P

Firefly

Today, my sisters and I decided to get out of the house for a bit and go to our local coffeehouse- The Firefly.  They recently expanded it, and it looks quite nice :)  I ran into some people that I know- the ladies from the Preschool that I worked at senior year!  I worked there for my Careers with Kids class, and it was awesome.  We talked a little bit about school, and then my sisters and I got a table and drinks.

They both got hot chocolates, and I opted for a mixed berry smoothie.  I am slightly jealous of the mugs that they got though.  For hot drinks, the Firefly has tons of sweet mugs like these.  The walls are all adorned with works of art done by local artists, which I think is super cool and adds to the friendly atmosphere.  Another bonus- free wifi!  (I just have to share that my computer doesn’t recognize the word “wifi”, and wanted me to change it to wife, which I found absolutely hilarious.  Free wife. Ha.)  So we have been here for a little over an hour, bumming around on the internet and drinking our tasty drinks.  Makes for a very nice day :)

Shopping Day!

As neither of my sisters or I have a summer job, we have a lot of free time together while our parents are at work.  Today, we decided to use that time to do what girls do- go shopping!  I had the sole purpose of finding an adorable dress in Francesca’s (I had seen it last time I went shopping with Sarah) and trying it on.  It was not my intent to buy said dress, as it had been $38 dollars, and I am but a poor college student.  However, when we got there, there it was! On the sale rack!  For only $20!  I had to buy it…
IMG_3131
Is it not the most adorable dress ever?!?  Then, of course, our purpose changed to finding a chunky belt to wear with it, which we found at H&M, after much looking.  We browsed around to find some fun jewelry also, but didn’t end up getting any today.  We decided, when we got home, to match it up with these silver Nine West shoes that I bought last year:

I’m not the best in heels.  But I can make it work.

This dress also looks super cute with a long sleeve black shirt, black leggings, and my brown winter boots :) (I didn’t get a picture of that look because it was way too hot and I couldn’t stand to be in it long enough for a photo shoot.)
